EUGENE, Ore. – No. 17 Stanford was held to a season-low hitting percentage in a 21-25, 25-23, 25-23, 23-25, 11-15 loss at No. 14 Oregon, Sunday, at Matthew Knight Arena.
Oregon (14-2, 5-1) snapped a 15-match losing streak to Stanford, defeating the Cardinal (9-5, 4-2) for the first time since 2011. It was just the fifth win for the Ducks over Stanford all-time.
Four Cardinal players registered double-digit kills, led by Kendall Kipp and Sami Francis who had 15 apiece. Senior Holly Campbell added 11 kills, while outside hitter Caitie Baird finished with 10.
Stanford registered 20.0 blocks in the match, holding Oregon to a .204 hitting percentage. The Ducks out dug the Cardinal, 89-73, while Stanford held a 6-4 edge in aces.
Freshman setter Kami Miner dished out 47 assists and had nine digs, three kills and three blocks. Sophomore libero Elena Oglivie finished with 26 digs – one shy of her career-high.
Baird turned in her sixth double-double of the season with a career-best 16 digs to go with the 10 kills. She also had career-highs in aces (4) and assists (3), and matched her career-best with seven blocks.
Campbell notched her 11 kills on 18 swings with just one error to hit .556, and tallied a season-high eight blocks. Redshirt junior McKenna Vicini had a match-high 10 blocks, while Kipp added six.
Sophomore defensive specialist Alex Lougeay collected nine digs for the Stanford, while junior Natalie Berty was used as a serving sub and had two digs and her first ace of the season.
Oregon was led by outside hitter Brooke Nuneviller's 22 kills and 19 digs. Taylor Borup added 19 kills and 17 digs for the Ducks, while libero Georgia Murphy matched Oglivie with 26 digs.
Stanford returns to The Farm next week, playing host to No. 15 Utah on Thursday and No. 24 Colorado on Sunday.
