Second at Coed ACCs

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Following in a similar fashion to the women's regatta a week ago, Stanford's coed sailing team finished second at the Atlantic Coast Qualifiers. The Cardinal now boasts four top-two finishes in five appearances this year.

Jack Parkin and Sammy Pickell sailed for the duration in the A Division, finishing first in the flight with 108 points. Michelle Lahrkamp, Patricia Gerli, Wiley Rogers and Abigail Tindall shared the duties in Division B, combining for fourth place with 119 points.

Pickell and Parkin tallied 10 top-5 results across 18 races, including one win, to lead the effort. Stanford added three race wins in the B-Division from the duo of Lahrkamp and Gerli.

The Cardinal was at or near the top of the table for the duration of the regatta, and sat in first place through 13 races. After 18 total battles in each division, Stanford was 14 points clear of third-place Navy, and over 100 points ahead of the cut line to qualify for the Atlantic Coast Championship later this fall.

The Women's Atlantic Coast Championship is one of three events on deck for sailing this coming weekend, Oct. 16-17, while Stanford will also compete at the Captain Hurst Bowl and for the Nevins Trophy.
