• For the second time this season, Stanford plays Friday night on a short week. The Cardinal host the Utah Utes Friday night at 7:30 p.m. on Fox Sports 1.
• Stanford and Utah meet for the 10th time in series history on Friday night at Stanford Stadium. The Utes lead the all-time series with five wins compared to the Cardinal’s four.
• Friday’s night game will be the fifth between the two teams at Stanford. Utah has won the previous four.
• The Cardinal is in the midst of a final stretch where it will play four of its final five games at home. Stanford was the only Power Five program to play five games away from home in the season’s first eight weeks.
• Stanford is 3-0 this season when winning the turnover battle and 56-7 in David Shaw’s tenure. The Cardinal is 0-4 (16-23 under Shaw) when losing the turnover battle.
• Stanford Athletics will welcome eight former student-athletes into its Hall of Fame this weekend. The group will be inducted in a ceremony on Saturday and recognized publicly during Friday’s game against Utah.
• The Class of 2021 includes Jayne Appel Marinelli (women’s basketball), Bob Bryan (men’s tennis), Mike Bryan (men’s tennis), Josh Childress (men’s basketball), Toby Gerhart (football/baseball), Alix Klineman (women’s volleyball), Elle Logan (women’s rowing) and Julia Smit (women’s swimming and diving).
• On Saturday, Utah retired No. 22 in memory of Aaron Lowe and Ty Jordan, who have both tragically passed in the last year. Stanford joined other Pac-12 host sites by painting the eight, 22-yard line hash marks at Stanford Stadium in Utah red.
