STANFORD, Calif. – Despite a career-high 26 kills from Caitie Baird, No. 20 Stanford dropped a 22-25, 20-25, 25-23, 19-25 decision to No. 13 Washington, Thursday, at Maples Pavilion.
An outside hitter from Indianapolis, Baird's 26 kills cam on 46 swings with just one error for a career-best .543 attack percentage. She also had six digs, a block and an assist.
Stanford (13-10, 8-7 Pac-12) out hit Washington (19-4, 12-3 Pac-12) .331 to .288, while both teams recorded 11.0 blocks. It is the third time this season the Cardinal has out hit an opponent and lost.
Freshman setter Kami Miner dished out 49 assists and collected 12 digs and five blocks for her seventh double-double of the season. Sophomore libero Elena Oglivie finished with a match-high 15 digs and a career-high nine assists.

Redshirt sophomore McKenna Vicini hit .700 with seven kills on 10 errorless swings. The Lexington, Kentucky, native also posted four blocks. Senior Holly Campbell added five blocks and three kills, while freshman defensive specialist Taylor Beaven had 10 digs and an assist.
Junior opposite Kendall Kipp turned in 16 kills on .282 hitting. She also had a season-best eight digs, three blocks and the Cardinal's lone ace of the match. Freshman outside hitter Sami Francis totaled eight kills, three digs and a block.

Washington, which is now just a half a game behind UCLA for first in the Pac-12 standings, had three players register double-digit kills. Opposite Samantha Drechsel had 20 kills and 15 digs to lead the Dawgs. Outside hitter Claire Hoffman chipped in with 17 kills and 11 digs, while Marin Grote hit .444 with 15 kills and had six blocks.
Washington has now won five straight matches over Stanford. The Cardinal leads the all-time series, 56-20.
Stanford will face No. 21 Washington State on Saturday at 8 p.m. for its final regular season home match. The Cardinal will honor Holly Campbell and Mackenzie Fidelak in a postmatch Senior Night ceremony.
