STANFORD, Calif. – Jaden Abas and Shane Griffith secured wins, but No. 14 Stanford dropped a 29-7 decision to No. 4 Oklahoma State, Saturday, at Maples Pavilion.

It was the first time Abas, a redshirt sophomore, had the chance to compete in front of a Cardinal home crowd. Ranked No. 7 nationally, he turned in a dominating 15-6 major decision over No. 22 Kaden Gfeller at 149 pounds. Abas tallied six takedowns in the win to improve to 5-0 on the season and 18-4 in his career. All five of his wins this season have come by bonus points.

Griffith, the defending national champion and top-ranked wrestler at 165 pounds, registered a 4-0 decision over sixth-ranked Travis Wittlake. After no score in the opening period, Griffith chose down to start the second. After a quick escape he scored a takedown in the first minute of the second frame and had a 3-0 lead after two. Wittlake chose bottom to start the third, but was unable to escape and Griffith finished with 3:18 of riding time to improve to 5-0 on the season and 45-1 in his career.
