NC State Results Day 2 Opens in a new window

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Stanford kept the momentum from day one rolling and finished with two event wins and plenty of impressive results from the swimmers.

Andrei Minakov was the highlight of the day, taking home the individual event win in the 100 fly with a time of 44.78, the second-fastest time in Stanford history. The olympian also qualified with an NCAA A standard time in the event.

Leon MacAlister also earned an individual win, claiming first in the 100 back. His time of 46.15 was the tenth fastest in Stanford history and met the NCAA B standard time.

Stanford also took home fourth in the 200 medley relay with Leon MacAlister, Ethan Dang, Andrei Minakov, and Mason Gonzalez combining for a time of 1:25.26. 

The Cardinal found success in each event on the day with multiple swimmers in the top-16 throughout the finals session.

In the 400 IM, Matt Fenlon led the way with a fifth place finish and a time of 3:48.54. Alex Liang and Rick Mihm took ninth and tenth in the event as well.

Three Cardinal swimmers finished in the top-16 of the 100 fly along with Minakov. Jonny Affeld, Aaron Sequeira, and Ethan Hu all reached the NCAA B standard on the day while finishing tenth, 12th and 13th, respectively.

Freshman Ron Polonsky led the way in the 200 free with a second place finish and a time of 1:34.29. Preston Forst contributed a fifth place result and a 1:34.55 time, both good for the NCAA B standard.

In the 100 breast, Daniel Roy took third with a 52.98 while Ethan Dang nabbed sixth with a 53.73 showing. Hayden Zheng and Jon Cook both finished in the top-16 as well, taking home 13th and 14th respectively.

Joining MacAlister in the 100 back, Aarion Sequeira finished sixth overall with a 47.45 while Alex Boratto took tenth at 48.32 and Shane Blinkman earned 15th with a 48.92.

Stanford closed out the evening with a third-place finish in the 400 free relay. Leon MacAlister, Ron Polonsky, Luke Maurer, and Grant Shoults combined for a time of 6:19.83 and an NCAA B standard time.

Stanford is back in action to close out the NC State/GAC Invite on Sunday.
