Stanford Sweeps USC

LOS ANGELES – Opposite Kendall Kipp registered a season-high 22 kills to lead No. 18 Stanford in a sweep at USC, Wednesday, at the Galen Center.

Kipp's 22 kills came on 35 swings with just one error for a season-best .600 attack percentage. She also tallied a match-high three aces and three digs.

Stanford (17-10, 12-7 Pac-12) hit .408 as a team, while USC (14-15, 9-10 Pac-12) posted a .323 clip. The Cardinal held a 7-4 advantage in aces and a 37-36 edge in digs. Stanford did not register a block in the match.
 


Redshirt sophomore Caitie Baird finished with 14 kills on .433 hitting, six digs and two aces. Senior middle blocker Holly Campbell had six kills on a .556 attack percentage, while redshirt sophomore middle blocker McKenna Vicini added six kills on eight errorless swings to hit .750.
 


Freshman setter Kami Miner, whose father, Harold, was an All-American basketball player at USC, racked up 46 assists, six digs and an ace.
 


Sophomore libero Elena Oglivie had a match-high 14 digs, while freshman defensive specialist Taylor Beaven chipped in with six digs and an ace. Freshman outside hitter Sami Francis recorded four kills and a dig for the Cardinal.

After a competitive first set which had 12 tie scores and three lead changes, Stanford was in control for much of the remainder of the match. However, leading 17-9 in the third, USC scored six straight to put the pressure on the Cardinal down the stretch.

USC was led by opposite Emilia Weske's 14 kills on .478 hitting to go with three blocks. Candice Denny and Brooke Botkin added eight kills apiece for the Trojans.
Stanford has won nine in a row over USC and is now 68-24 all-time against the Trojans.

Stanford closes out the regular season on Saturday at California. First serve is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Pac-12 Bay Area.
