STANFORD, Calif. - Head coach Tabitha Yim announced the signing of Ava Sorrento (Toronto, Ontario, Canada), a 2022 Canadian Senior National Team Member, to a National Letter of Intent on Monday.
Sorrento joins Stanford's already impressive class of Ashley Carter (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.), Claire Dean (Piedmont, Calif.), Taralyn Nguyen (Fair Oaks, Calif.), and Anna Roberts (Seattle, Wash.), rounding out the Cardinal's 2022 recruiting class which has been ranked No. 2 in the country by CollegeGymNews.com.
"We are thrilled to welcome Ava and her family to the Stanford family," noted Yim. "Ava is an incredible student, athlete, and leader who has really blossomed over the past few years. She has a beautiful combination of artistry and power that will be well received in the NCAA. We expect her to make an immediate impact on our line-ups and know her elite mentality, work ethic and approach will allow her to thrive at Stanford."
Sorrento will find a taste of home in the Cardinal program as both redshirt freshman Isabela Onyshko and junior Jade Chrobok hail from Canada. All three gymnasts bring national team experience to Stanford's program and continue a legacy of great Canadian gymnasts in the SWG family.
