STANFORD, Calif. – The push for the playoffs continues in the NBA, with just a month to go until the end of the regular season. Six Stanford alumni have suited up in the League this season, with four making recent impacts for the Bucks, Grizzlies, Mavericks and Magic.
Stanford is one of 12 programs nationally with a player drafted in each of the last three seasons, while a plethora of alumni are competing professionally around the world.
Ziaire Williams | Memphis Grizzlies
The fifth top-10 and lottery pick in program history, Williams was selected with the 10th overall selection in the 2021 NBA Draft, eventually heading to the Memphis Grizzlies via trade. Williams averages 7.7 points and 2.0 rebounds per game across 49 appearances, seeing 21.8 minutes per night for a 47-22 Grizzlies squad that sits second in the West. The former five-star recruit has started his last 27 appearances, with Memphis going 19-8 over those games. Williams improves his scoring average to 9.6 points per game as a starter, and has been in double figures in 14 times.
Dwight Powell | Dallas Mavericks
The ever-steady Dwight Powell is in his ninth season with the Dallas Mavericks after a trade sent the power forward to Texas in 2014. Powell has started 57 of his 68 games in 2021-22, averaging 7.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 65.2 percent from the floor. He is on his way to posting his fourth-straight season with an offensive rating of 130 or higher, and is coming off a career-high tying 26 points on March 11 against Houston. The Mavericks are fifth in the West at 42-26.
Brook Lopez | Milwaukee Bucks
After a productive opener back in October, Brook Lopez was shelved due to a back injury until March. The 2021 NBA Champion has returned in time to make an impact for Milwaukee, scoring six points in his return on March 14. The Bucks are second in the Eastern Conference with a 43-26 overall record. Lopez holds career averages of 16.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game and is in his fourth season in Milwaukee.
Robin Lopez | Orlando Magic
Lopez signed with the Orlando Magic in the offseason, suiting up for his eighth team since debuting with the Phoenix Suns in 2008. Lopez has started nine of his 28 appearances, and averages 7.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and a 1.6 assists per game. He has been in double figures 10 times this season, and holds career averages of 8.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
Tyrell Terry | Memphis GrizzliesThe 31st selection in the 2020 NBA Draft, Terry was signed to a 10-day contract by the Memphis Grizzlies on Dec. 25, and was inked for the rest of the season on Jan. 1 to a two-way deal. Terry has seen action in two contests this season for the Grizzlies, and has appeared 16 times for the Memphis Hustle in the NBA G-League, where he averages 12.1 points per game.
KZ Okpala | Miami Heat/OKC ThunderIn his third NBA season, Okpala made 21 appearances for the Miami Heat this season, posting averages of 3.7 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. He was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder at the trade deadline.
