CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Cardinal added its fifth first place victory in five regattas this season, taking the top spot at the Bob Bavier Team Race, hosted by the College of Charleston. In 18 total races, Stanford finished with a record of 16-2.
Consistent winds off the coast of Crab Bank provided ideal conditions for the first round robin on Saturday as the Cardinal went undefeated over the first day of competition. Stanford lined up with Jack Parkin, Wiley Rogers, Justin Lim and Michelle Lahrkamp at the skipper position.
AnaClare Sole, Patricia Gerli, Mathew Hogan, and Sammy Pickell made up the crew for the event.
On the second day, more ideal conditions were present, with strong winds and warm weather. Stanford was bested by Georgetown and UC Santa Barbara, but it wasn't enough to remove the Cardinal from the top spot.
In the 18 races, Stanford teams first and second all but on four occasions. Harvard finished second in the event with a 14-4 record over the two day team race event.
Stanford's win percentage of 88.9% made it the fourth team race event this spring that the Cardinal have recorded a win percentage of at least 85%.
After three weeks of at least one regatta each weekend, the Cardinal will have a weekend off before competing in three separate events over the weekend of March 19-20.
