Two Trophies at the PCCSC Championships

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Stanford earned two big victories at the PCCSC Coed Championships this weekend, officially securing a spot at nationals next month.

In the Carter Ford PCCSC Open Team Race Championship, Stanford sailed a perfect 14-0 to claim the title. UCSB was close in second place, but was unable to halt the visiting Cardinal.

Out of the 14 team races in the event, Stanford earned a clean one, two, three sweep on seven different occasions, including once in the final round to clinch the win.

Stanford lined up with four skippers in the team race event, with Jack Parkin, Hannah Freeman, Stephanie Houck, and Wiley Rogers at the helm. Sammy Pickell, Laurel Foster, AnaClare Sole, Patricia Gerli, and Mathew Hogan took on the crew duties.

In the Mark Healy PCCSC Open Conference Championship, the Cardinal earned its second win of the weekend, beating out UCSB by 10 points for gold. Stanford sailed strongly in both A and B categories, scoring the best marks in each division of any team.

Stanford started hot in the fleet race and held on to first place throughout the entire competition. In 14 total races between the A and B divisions, Stanford finished either first or second in all but one race.

The Cardinal return to the water next week to compete in the PCCSC Women's Championship, hosted by the University of Hawaii and the Navy Spring in Annapolis, Maryland.
