Men's Rowing

Stanford Falls in Seattle

SEATTLE – On the road for the first time this season, Stanford men's rowing fell to Washington at the Husky Invite. The two teams competed twice, racing both the first and second varsity eight boats.

"This was our first away dual race since 2018, so none of our current athletes have ever raced in Seattle", noted head coach Ted Sobolewski. "In the broader context of our progress this year, I am pleased with the way both crews handled the trip. Obviously, we want to win all the races we enter, but both crews had very specific aspects of the race they were working on, and I felt they were able to execute and make progress against what is objectively one of the best teams in the country. We still have a number of areas to improve on,  and we will need to do so this week, as we face some really stiff east coast competition at Redwood Shores next weekend."

The Huskies were victorious in a close varsity eight race, topping the Cardinal by just a touch of open water. Stanford's second varsity fell by 13 seconds, crossing the line at 6:06.11.

Stanford continues its season next weekend at Redwood Shores, competing in the Pac-12 Challenge against Northeastern, Syracuse, and Wisconsin April 9-10.
