LOS ANGELES - No. 2 Stanford delivered its best offensive performance of the season, routing No. 13 San Jose State 24-6 on Friday in the opening round of the MPSF Championship.
Producing its highest goal total since a 24-8 win over UC Davis on April 19, 2019, Stanford (20-2, 5-1 MPSF) won its sixth in a row overall while remaining undefeated in 12 matches away from Avery Aquatic Center.
Seeking its sixth MPSF title overall but only its first since 2014, the Cardinal received goals from 12 different players, led by four apiece from Hannah Constandse and Makenzie Fischer.
Aria Fischer fired off a game-high eight shots and joined Eleanor Facey in contributing three goals while Floranne Carroll dished out five assists.
The Cardinal attacked early and often, building an 11-4 halftime lead, scoring all nine goals in the third period and shooting 72.7 percent overall off 33 shot attempts.
Stanford converted six of its seven power play opportunities while San Jose State (11-15, 0-7 MPSF) finished 0-13.
The game was put out of reach early, with the Cardinal claiming a 7-1 lead after the first period and Aria Fischer scoring twice.
Constandse unleashed the first of her four goals with just under one minute remaining in the second period, giving Stanford an 11-4 halftime edge.
Stanford tacked on nine more goals in the third quarter, with Christina Hicks scoring twice in the final minute for a 20-4 advantage.
Maya Avital played the first three quarters in goal, making eight saves to move into ninth on the Cardinal's all-time single-season list with 167. Katie Lyons covered the final eight minutes and came up with four saves.
Stanford will play the winner of UCLA/Indiana in Saturday's semifinal at 12:45 p.m.
