CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Stanford claimed two top-three finishes over the weekend, earning silver at the PCCSC North Designate and bronze at the Marchiando Team Race. The Cardinal have now placed in the top-three in each of the 10 regattas this spring season.
In Massachusetts at the Marchiando Team Race, the first day was had spectacular spring sailing conditions powerful winds allowing for constant sailing. At the end of the first day and 98 races in, the Roger Williams Hawks sat on top with Yale, Stanford and Harvard all within striking distance.
Jack Parkin, Michelle Lahrkamp, and Wiley Rogers lined up for Stanford as skippers during the event while Sammy Pickell, Gwendolyn Donahue, Patricia Gerli, and AnaClare Sole handled the crew duties. The Cardinal went 11-4 in head-to-head matchups on the weekend, only falling to Yale, Connecticut College, Bowdoin, and Bostin University.
Stanford finished just one point behind the 12-3 Roger Williams and Yale teams. The Cardinal also handed the victorious Roger Williams team one of their three head-to-head defeat on the weekend.
At the PCCSC North Designate, Stanford finished just two points shy of the victory, with Hawaii claiming the top spot with 34 points. The Cardinal sailed well in both the A and B divisions, scoring 22 points and 14 points respectively.
The Cardinal battled with the Rainbows throughout the event, jockeying for first place. After the second and fifth rounds, Stanford held the lead, but Hawaii was able to regain control near the end of the competition.
Stanford is back in action in three regattas next weekend, competing at the PCCSC Coed Championships in Santa Barbara, the Emily Wick Trophy hosted by the Coast Guard Academy, and the Camel Women's Team Race in Connecticut.
