Tuscaloosa Bound

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford softball was selected for the NCAA tournament for the 19th time in program history, earning the No. 2 seed in the Tuscaloosa Regional. The Cardinal will be joined in the regional by host No. 6 Alabama, and Murray State and Chattanooga.

Stanford will open the regional against Murray State on Friday, May 20.

This is the third-consecutive postseason appearance for Stanford after head coach Jessica Allister led the program to the NCAA Tournament in 2019 and 2021. The 2020 postseason was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Cardinal will be making a trip to SEC Country for the third straight postseason. Stanford played at the Gainesville Regional in 2019  and reached the final of the Fayetteville Regional in 2021.

Stanford enters the postseason with a 36-19 record and went 11-13 in conference play to finish fourth in the Pac-12 – its highest finish within the conference since 2013. The 36 wins and 11 Pac-12 wins are the most for the program since 2013. The Cardinal has won six games against national seeds this season, including five against teams in the top eight.

Four players were selected to the All-Pac-12 teams, led by Alana Vawter on the first team and Taylor Gindlesperger on the second team. Sydnee Huff was a third-team selection while also making the all-defensive team, where she was joined by Emily Young.

The Tuscaloosa Regional will run from May 20-22.
