LUBBOCK, Texas - Freshman Braden Montgomery is a semifinalist for the 2022 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award, as announced by the College Baseball Foundation on Monday.
One of 10 players listed, Montgomery is hitting .287 with 35 runs scored, 13 doubles, 13 homers and 39 RBIs at the plate. Stanford's starting right fielder has also managed six outfield assists. On the mound, the native of Madison, Miss. has compiled a pair of saves with 25 strikeouts over 17 innings of work. Montgomery has made 14 appearances, including three starts, pitching to a 5.29 ERA and limiting opponents to a .183 average against.
The award is named for the former Washington State University standout who achieved success both as a first baseman and left-handed pitcher during the late 1980s and was inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007. The award will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this summer.
The five finalists for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award will be announced on May 30.
