STANFORD, Calif. -- Four Stanford athletes were named to the CoSIDA District 8 All-Academic teams for track and field/cross country and are now eligible for Academic All-America honors.
Christina Aragon and Allie Jones were selected to the women's team and Charles Hicks and Keyshawn King were named to the men's. All four are competing at the NCAA West Prelims, with Jones and Hicks already having qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Aragon is in her sixth year from Billings, Montana, with a major of human biology and is an eight-time All-American. She was the 2021 Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's cross country and is competing in the 1,500 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, this week.
Jones is a senior academically from Santa Barbara with a major of human biology. She won the Pac-12 title in the heptathlon two weeks ago and broke the school record in that event earlier this season. She is competing in the 100 hurdles this week and already has advanced to Eugene in the heptathlon, earning All-America honors last year.
Hicks is a junior from Jacksonville, Florida, with a major of cognitive science. He is the reigning Pac-12 cross country champion and recently captured the second of back-to-back conference titles in the 10,000 meters. He is a five-time All-American and on Wednesday advanced to the NCAA Championships in that event.
King is a senior from Liberty, South Carolina, with a double major of psychology and sociology. He is the Pac-12 Men's Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was took second in the conference in the triple jump with a Stanford outdoor record mark. King, seeking his first All-America honor, was an Olympic Trials finalist last summer.
