Ready For Regionals

  • No. 1 Stanford women's golf is set to host the NCAA Stanford Regional, Monday through Wednesday, at Stanford Golf Course. The course will be set up at 6,267 yards and a par 71.
  • The tournament features 54 holes played over three days with the top four teams and two individuals from non-qualifying teams advancing to the NCAA Women's Golf Championships, beginning May 20 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. The other five regional sites are Albuquerque, N.M. (New Mexico), Ann Arbor, Mich. (Michigan), Stillwater, Okla. (Oklahoma State), Tallahassee, Fla. (Florida State), and Franklin, Tenn. (Vanderbilt).
  • Stanford will host the following teams, in order of seed: No. 1 Stanford, No. 2 USC, No. 3 LSU, No. 4 Texas Tech, No. 5 Kentucky, No. 6 Iowa State, No. 7 Northwestern, No. 8 Purdue, No. 9 UNLV, No. 10 Cal Poly, No. 11 Princeton and No. 12 Sacred Heart.
  • The qualifying individuals for the Stanford Regional are: Riana Mission (San Francisco), Jennifer Koga (Sacramento State), Kirsten Baete (Nebraska), Victoria Gailey (Nevada), Leah John (Nevada) and Siripatsorn Patchana (Grand Canyon).
  • The Cardinal is looking for its 12th straight NCAA Championship appearance, qualifying for every national championship since 2010.
  • Last year at NCAA Regionals, the Cardinal posted a school-record 28-under 824 and a dominant 30-stroke victory, to win the Stanford Regional. The Cardinal set school records for 18 (-13, second round), 36 (-25) and 54 holes (-28) to advance to its 35th NCAA Championship all-time. Rachel Heck won individual medalist honors at the Regional at 11-under, while Angelina Ye finished second at 10-under.
  • Stanford's lineup will be Rose Zhang, Brooke Seay, Aline Krauter, Sadie Englemann and Rachel Heck, with Caroline Sturdza as the alternate. Substitutions are permissible in NCAA Championships play.
  • Four Cardinal were named All-Pac-12 following the Pac-12 Championships: Heck, Aline Krauter, Brooke Seay and Rose Zhang. All four of those individuals were selected to this summer's Arnold Palmer Cup, set to be played in Switzerland from July 1-3.
  • Monday's 8:44 a.m. tee time off the first tee is expected to feature three of the top five players in the country in Stanford's Zhang (#1), USC's Amari Avery (#5) and LSU's Ingrid Lindblad (#2).
  • The Stanford Regional could feature as many as five of Team USA's eight individuals playing in this summer's Curtis Cup: Zhang and Heck from Stanford, Avery from USC, Jensen Castle from Kentucky and Lantanna Stone from LSU. Additionally, Stanford's Seay is an alternate.
  • Anne Walker was named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association's (WGCA) watch list for the Jackie Steinmann National Coach of the Year honors recently. Walker has guided the consensus No. 1 Cardinal to five full-field victories this season and seen five individuals claim individual medalist honors at tournaments.
