FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Paul A. Violich Director of Women's Swimming Greg Meehan has been named a finalist for the ASCA coach of the year, as announced on Thursday. Meehan was named one of six finalists for the award while the winner will be announced on September 8 at the ASCA awards banquet in Las Vegas.
A three-time NCAA Coach of the Year, Meehan led multiple swimmers to gold medals at the World Championships in Budapest this summer, including current Stanford swimmer Torri Huske. On the world stage, Meehan coached Huske to four medals this summer, including two golds.
Huske swam in the 100 fly, leading from start to finish in the final to clock a 55.64, breaking her own American record, and earning her first world title. Meehan also led Huske to a bronze in the 400 free relay, a gold in the 400 mixed medley relay, and a bronze medal and personal best swim in the 100 free at 52.92.
The 2020 U.S. Olympic Women's Swimming Head Coach led Stanford to back-to-back-to-back national championships in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Meehan has also continued the Cardinal's unmatched streak of never finishing outside the top 10 at the national championship.
In his 10 seasons on The Farm, Meehan has mentored five Pac-12 Swimmers of the Year and six Pac-12 Newcomers of the Year, and has won five Pac-12 Coach of the Year awards. He has coached the Cardinal to 18 national championship relays and 28 individual national championships.
