Berkeley Bound for Regionals

- As the All-American Championships continue in Tulsa, the ITA Regional Championships get underway on Thursday, Oct. 6 in Berkeley. Isaac Gorelik, Filip Kolasinski, Anders Matta and Neel Rajesh will be in action for the Cardinal.
- Max Basing, Nishesh Basavareddy and Samir Banerjee have been in action at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa this week. Basing earned a first round win in the main draw on Wednesday, Oct. 5 to advance, while Basavareddy and Banerjee went 3-1 and 1-1, respectively. Basavareddy went 3-0 in qualifying to reach the main draw on Wednesday.
- Stanford's players in Berkeley will look to advance to the ITA Super Regional, which will be hosted by Stanford Oct. 21-24 at Taube Family Tennis Center.
- Stanford opened the season at the Battle in the Bay Classic, where Aryan Chaudhary and Filip Kolasinski participated in the main draw and Gorelik and Neel Rajesh played in the qualifying stage. Rajesh led the event with three singles wins, while Chaudhary picked up the team's first win over a ranked opponent this year.
- Stanford returns many of its key performers from a year ago, led by All-American Arthur Fery and All-Pac-12 honoree Max Basing. Fery was ranked as high as No. 1 in the country last season in singles and No. 6 in doubles, going 24-8 in singles and 26-10 in doubles a year ago. Basing was one of the top freshmen in the conference in 2021-22, going 23-4 in singles and 15-10 in doubles en route to ITA Northwest Region Rookie of the Year accolades.
- Basing starts the fall ranked No. 40 in singles, while Stanford has two freshmen ranked in the ITA Newcomer category: Nishesh Basavareddy (No. 2) and Samir Banerjee (No. 9).
- Stanford went 19-6 last season, including a perfect 10-0 record at Taube Family Tennis Center. Stanford earned a bid to its 14th consecutive NCAA Tournament, traveling to 14th seeded Harvard for a pair of victories to advance to the Super Regional. 
- Paul Goldstein is in his ninth season as the Taube Family Director of Men's Tennis. Goldstein’s teams have posted a 131-55 record with a national ranking and a berth in the NCAA Championships in each of his seasons at the helm.
