Midseason Meets Complete

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Stanford closed out its midseason meets in style on Saturday afternoon, winning four individual events and taking the top spot in the 400 free relay. Torri Huske, Aurora Roghair, Charlotte Hook and Claire Curzan each posted an event victory in North Carolina on Saturday.

"Tonight was a great way to finish off the competition here in Greensboro," said The Paul A. Violich Director of Women's Swimming and Diving Greg Meehan. "I'm really proud of how the team battled the last three days, and in particular, the last three sessions. Starting last night, coming in this morning, your body is beat up a little bit, but they came in and put in some great performances this morning to set up a really successful evening session."

The Cardinal started hot in the 1650 free, with Aurora Roghair taking the title. Her time of 16:09 secured her an NCAA B Standard cut and was more than ten seconds faster than second place.

The Cardinal kept the momentum going in the 200 back, with Claire Curzan winning the event with a 1:48.50, the third-fastest time in program history. She was followed closely by Taylor Ruck in second place with a time of 1:51.66.

Natalie Mannion and Lucie Nordmann finished in fifth and sixth in the A final as well.

Torri Huske nabbed an event title early in the session as well, dominating the 100 free with a time of 46.85, more than a second ahead of the next-fastest finisher. Lillie Nordmann wasn't far behind, taking third overall with a 48.45.

Kayla Wilson, Anna Shaw, and Morgan Tankersley made it five Cardinal competing in the 100 free A final, and they finished in fourth, seventh, and eighth respectively.

In the 200 breast, Sam Tadder was the top finisher for Stanford, coming in with a time of 2:10.92 and fifth overall.

Charlotte Hook was the next Cardinal to win an individual event title, taking the top spot in the 200 fly. Her time of 1:52.48 is the fifth-fastest time in program history. Lucy Bell joined Hook in the A final, taking fourth overall with a 1:55.55.

Stanford closed out the meet in dominant fashion, finishing the 400 free relay in first and third. Taylor Ruck, Lillie Nordmann, Claire Curzan, and Torri Huske claimed first place with a 3:09.82, good for the meet record and an NCAA A Standard cut.

Anna Shaw, Kayla Wilson, Amy Tang, and Morgan Tankersley took third place with a 3:14.86 and an NCAA B Standard cut. Stanford's C relay of Gigi Johnson, Natalie Mannion, Lucie Nordmann, and Emma Wheal posted a 3:16.73, just four tenths of a second off a B cut.

"For us to finish with those three relays being really strong at the end of the meet says a lot about how tough this particular group is, how much they fight for each other, and how much fun they're having. It was great team energy."

Meanwhile, in Texas, all three Stanford divers finished in the top 15 on the platform. Emilie Moore was the highest-finisher for the Cardinal, scoring a 256.75 to take sixth overall.

Julia Wortman scored a 212.20 and Lauren Burch 191.40, earning the pair 14th and 15th respectively.

"We recognize this is one step along our journey this year, but we can start to see what this is going to look like come February and March, and that's really exciting," added Meehan. "It's a happy Thanksgiving everybody, and then it's back to work."

This concludes Stanford's fall season. The team will be back in action at the Bruin Diving Invite in January.
