AUSTIN, Texas - Carlo Agostinelli and Keegan Tingey each earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Team the organization announced on Wednesday. Stanford has now had at least one Academic All-America selection in each of the last five years and 14 selections overall.
Agostinelli and Tingey both personify the meaning of being a student-athlete at Stanford, leading the team in both the classroom and on the field. Agostinelli finished second on the team in points this season with 19, coming from a team-leading nine assists along with five goals.
Tingey meanwhile helped lead a Cardinal defense to the top ten in shutout percentage in the NCAA (10th, 0.500), 22nd in goal differential (+23), and 26th in goals against average (.889) during the regular season. He added nine points for the team, the sixth-most among Stanford players. His seven assists were the second most on the team, just behind Agostinelli, and Tingey added a goal as well.
Tingey has twice been named to the Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll and has earned CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District honors the last two seasons before earning his first Academic All-America selection this season. The Fresno, California native finishes his career as a Pac-12 Champion (2020) and a three-time All-Pac-12 selection.
Agostinelli has also earned a Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll selection twice and he leads all players at Stanford currently with 23 career points to his name, coming from four goals and 15 assists. The redshirt junior has another year of eligibility left and will look to lead another potent Stanford offense to a postseason run in 2023.
