Brown Leads At Pac-12 Championships

Team Leaderboard Opens in a new window Individual Leaderboard Opens in a new window

SAMMAMISH, Wash. - Following his third straight round in the 60s to begin the 2022 Pac-12 Championships, junior Barclay Brown is the solo leader by one stroke at Aldarra Golf Club with 18 holes left to play. Barclay has tallied a 10-under 203 through three rounds and leads Washington's Noah Woolsey (-9) by one shot. As a team, Stanford is in third with a 4-over 1,069 through 54 holes and currently trails leader, Washington, by nine strokes with one day of competition left.

"Barclay is playing great golf and just needs to keep doing what he is doing," Knowles Family Director of Men's Golf Conrad Ray said following Tuesday's round. "If he can focus on what he can control, the results will take care of themselves.

"Our game plan for tomorrow will be to focus on the course and executing our shots. That will give us a chance. We can't have three-putts or wide-side misses into the greens. Balls in the fairways will be key."

Brown and Woolsey will battle it out on Wednesday as the two will be paired together in the final group. Brown was 4-under through 14 holes on Tuesday, giving back a shot on No. 15 to finish 3-under for the day. This week, the South Yorkshire, England native ranks third in the field in par 3 (-3) and par 4 (-1) scoring, and is also tied for fourth (-6) on par 5 scoring. He has tallied 38 pars and 13 birdies in the first 54 holes.

After posting the best round of the tournament in the second round, Stanford matched Arizona State's 2-over 357 for the second-best round of the day on Tuesday. Three Cardinal - Henry Shimp, Ethan Ng and Karl Vilips - posted the same score in the third round as they had in the second round. Sophomore Michael Thorbjornsen, who opened with a 7-over 78 on Monday, has since posted a 4-under 67 and 1-under 70 to move into the Top 15 heading into Wednesday's final round.

"It's anyone's ball game," Ray concluded. "We have played solid, but not our best this week so far. If we can put things together, we can post a low one and hopefully give ourselves a chance."

The Cardinal will begin its final round at 8:42 a.m. on Wednesday and will go off No. 1 with Washington and Arizona State. The final pairing begins its round at 9:42 a.m.
