Successful Home Weekend

STANFORD, Calif. – No. 3 Stanford women's swimming and diving maintained its undefeated status with a 175-123 win over No. 10 USC on Friday afternoon.

The Cardinal improved to 7-0 on the season. The swimmers won all but two events and swept four events.

"We were solid today," said the Paul A. Violich Director of Women's Swimming, Greg Meehan.
"I think some things were really good. There were some other areas where we were not as sharp as I thought we would be. I think that's the product of where we are in our training block. We looked a little tired, which is not the worst thing for us. That is sort of our normal flow as we start to head out of this weekend and really make it about performance for the next six weeks."

The 200 free was the first sweep of the meet with Torri Huske (1:46.30), Taylor Ruck (1:47.77) and Lillie Nordmann (1:48.15) taking the podium. That was quickly followed in the 100 back with Claire Curzan (51.51), Alex Crisera (54.15) and Janelle Rudolph (54.4) holding the event.

Aurora Roghair took the titles in the distance events, going 9:53.66 in the 1000 and 4:48.10 in the 500.  Stanford swept the 500, with Kayla Wilson(4:48.62) and Morgan Tankersley (4:51.26) taking the last two spots on the podium.

Stanford took the podium in the 100 fly as well, with Huske (50.99), Claire Curzan (51.15) and Emma Wheal (53.67) earning points for the team.

Charlotte Hook took first in the 200 fly at 1:56.84 and Wheal won the 50 free in a fast 22.95. Amy Tang won the battle in the 100 free at 49.85 and Cirsera won her first event of the day in the 200 back at 1:56.84.

Lauren Burch took third on the 1-meter with a 305.80 and Emilie Moore earned the bronze with a 294.75.

"We'll really go back to work," said Meehan about the weeks ahead. "There will be a shift in our focus. We will be quite bit more speed focused in what we are doing training wise as we are getting ready for that meet. It is a quick turnaround from Cal to Pac-12's to NCAAs so we are allowing for our group to adapt."

The Cardinal will wrap up the regular season on February 11 with a home meet against Cal at the Avery Aquatic Center.
