Dismantled the Ducks

EGUENE, Ore. - No. 21 Stanford ended the Pac-12 road trip with a dominant win, dismantling Oregon 18-8 on Sunday afternoon for its first road win of the season. Stanford improves to 4-4 and 2-1 in conference contests, while the Ducks fall to 3-4 and 0-2 in conference play.

The game was even throughout the first two periods as the Pac-12 rivals went back and forth, trading leads and goals. At the half, the Cardinal led 8-7.

The second half was a different story, however. Stanford piled on 10 goals over the final two periods while only allowing one from Oregon in the fourth quarter.

Sarah Jaques led all scorers in the game, tallying six goals on six shots. It marked a new career-high for the redshirt sophomore who had set a new career high last week with five goals against UAlbany.

Jaques added an assist as well to bring her point total up to seven.

Annabel Frist was Stanford's next top scorer against Oregon with three goals. Her hat trick moves her to 28 goals on the season, the top mark in the Pac-12.

The Cardinal had eight goal scorers in the game, including Peep Williams who scored her first two career goals on Sunday afternoon.

Stanford fired off a season-high 40 shots against the Ducks, thanks in part to its dominance in the draw control. The Cardinal had 24 draw controls to Oregon's five.

Annabel Frist led the charge for Stanford in the center circle, recording a career-high 15 draw controls. She's now tied for the third-most in a game in Stanford history, topping her previous high of 13 against UAlbany last week.

Jay Browne was second on the team in points with five, coming from one goal and four assists, the most assists of any player in the game. Browne currently sits ninth in career assists at Stanford, now only five away from eighth on the list.

Kara Rahaim played every minute in goal for the Cardinal, tallying ten saves and a save percentage of .556. The senior captain was instrumental in Stanford's dominant defensive showing in the second half, and shut out the Ducks in the third quarter.

Stanford's defense forced eight turnovers on the day, led by Ashley Humphrey and Frist who each had two. The team also picked up 21 ground balls, 10 more than Oregon.

The Cardinal returns to action next Sunday, 3/26 against No. 3 Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois at 11 a.m. PT.
