Moore, Troy Power Cardinal to Victory

STOCKTON, Calif. - Freshman Malcolm Moore racked up five hits and junior Tommy Troy added four more to help power the No. 2 Stanford Cardinal past the Pacific Tigers 15-5 on Wednesday.

Moore went 5-for-5 with three doubles, a home run, three runs scored and three RBIs. The home run was Moore's team-leading fourth of the season. The native of Sacramento, Calif. homered in his first at bat in the first inning, doubled in his next three, and singled to finish his day in the eighth.

Troy fell a homer shy of the cycle, going 4-for-6 with two runs scored and an RBI. The native of Los Gatos, Calif. singled in the first inning, contributed an RBI-double in the second and led off the fourth with a triple.

Sophomore Braden Montgomery made the most of his two hits - belting a pair of homers for his third career multi-homer game. He finished the game with three runs scored and five RBIs.

Henry Gargus contributed Stanford's fourth home run of the game with a three-run shot in the eighth. The round-tripper was the second of his career.

Senior Nicolas Lopez (1-0) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Stanford (6-2). The left-hander went two shutout innings while giving up one hit, allowing one walk and striking out four. Junior Ryan Bruno also made an impact on the mound for the Cardinal, throwing two shutout innings while allowing no hits.

» Prior to Wednesday, Montgomery had collected multi-homer games on Feb. 20, 2022 vs. Cal State Fullerton and April 22, 2022 vs. Grand Canyon.
