BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 10 Stanford dropped the final match of its appearance at the Battle of the Bayou Saturday, falling to Houston Christian 3-2 on the campus of LSU.
Stanford's second match of the day, scheduled against Nicholls State, was canceled due to inclement weather.
Houston Christian was forced to earn two of its three dual-match points in a third set. The Huskies' clinching point came from court four, where Stanford pushed its competitor to extra points in the third set to take home the match victory.
The Cardinal returns home to complete its 2023 regular season slate, taking on No. 7 Grand Canyon, No. 9 California, Santa Clara, and Pacific April 21-22 at the Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium. Stanford's senior class will be celebrated after its matchup with Pacific on April 22.
