LOS ANGELES -- It was a close one on Saturday, as No. 6 Stanford came up one run short of victory, falling to No. 3 UCLA 2-1 and losing the series at Easton Stadium.
Regan Krause (8-3) got the start for Stanford (28-5, 5-3) and took the loss. The right-hander went six innings, giving up two runs on six hits, allowing five walks and striking out three.
Senior Emily Young earned the sole run for the Cardinal in the second inning, recording her first home run of the season.
Stanford was unable to hold the lead, as UCLA hit a two run bomb in the bottom of the second. Both teams got in scoring position multiple times in the following innings, but neither could add more runs.
The final game of the series will be televised on ESPNU Sunday at 2 p.m.
