Marchiando Open Team Race Results Opens in a new window Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race Results Opens in a new window

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Stanford finished first overall in the Marchiando Team Race this weekend and took fifth place in the Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race. The regatta victory in Massachusetts is Stanford's sixth overall win this spring season.

"This weekend was a success, on the whole," said head sailing coach Chris Klevan. "We are improving but have yet to totally come together. I'm excited to see how much we can grow as a team."

In the Marchiando Team Race, Stanford sailed strongly throughout the weekend. In the first round, the Cardinal dropped only one race, going 6-1.

In the second round, the Cardinal earned five more wins to go against two losses, securing an 11-3 record and the top spot in the event. Stanford finished the regatta emphatically, winning a re-sail of a Round 1 Race with Roger Williams to solidify first place.

Stanford's sailors in Cambridge included Michelle Lahrkamp, Patricia Gerli, Vanessa Lahrkamp, Justin Lim, Chapman Petersen, Isabelle McNabb, and Gwendolyn Donahue.

Meanwhile, in Providence, Rhode Island, Stanford battled in the Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race. The Cardinal finished fifth overall among a field of eight competitors, going 6-5 throughout the first round of racing.

After the 11 races of the round, the Cardinal sat in a three-way tie for fifth. In a sail off to decide fifth, sixth, and seventh, Stanford knocked off Harvard and the Coast Guard Academy to finish the regatta.

Ellie Harned, Hannah Freeman, and Sophie Fisher served as skippers in Providence while Grace Austin, Abigail Tindall, and AnaClare Sole took control of the crew duties.

Stanford returns to action next weekend, hosting the PCCSC Open Team Race Championship, the first of four conference titles on the line. The Cardinal will also be competing at the Yale Women's Team Race in New Haven Connecticut.
