STANFORD, Calif. – No. 10 Stanford won its seventh and eighth straight dual matches Wednesday, defeating No. 17 Tulane and Saint Mary's at the Beach Volleyball Stadium.
The Cardinal began its Wednesday matchups with a top-20 victory over No. 17 Tulane, 4-1. Stanford got out to a hot start, with fifth-year Charlie Ekstrom and junior Maya Harvey winning in straight sets on court two for its first point of the match, followed by a win on court four in a three-set shootout by freshman duo Sophie Kubiak and Ashley Vincent to take a 2-0 lead. Junior Xolani Hodel and Maddi Kriz secured the dual win with a 21-16, 22-20 victory on court one.
Stanford ended its day with a 5-0 sweep win over Saint Mary's. Ekstrom and Harvey fought back from a first-set defeat to take the point on court two in three sets, while Kubiak and Vincent earned their second victory of the day with a 21-17, 21-11 decision on court four. Junior Emmy Sharp and freshman Daria Gusarova earned the deciding point of the dual with a decisive 21-8, 21-15 victory on court three.
The Cardinal hits the sand again Friday and Saturday, hosting the 2023 Pac-12 North Invitational. Throughout the two-day tournament, Stanford will match up against Arizona, No. 4 UCLA, Oregon, and No. 9 California. Matches held inside the Beach Volleyball Stadium will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
