STANFORD, Calif. – The 2023 field hockey season is rapidly approaching, and the program has revealed its upcoming slate of contests. Stanford will play six opponents on the Varsity Turf and will play two matches on Pac-12 Networks.
The Cardinal opens the season with its first four contests at home, including three consecutive Big Ten opponents to start the season. Maryland (Aug. 25) and Rutgers (Aug. 27) visit the Farm on the season's first weekend, while Penn State (Sept. 3) arrives the following weekend. The four-game homestand concludes with a Friday morning clash against Richmond (Sept. 8).
Stanford hits the road for four straight games, starting with trips to Ohio State (Sept. 10) and Michigan State (Sept. 12) before the America East opener on Sept. 15 at New Hampshire. The stretch of play away from Stanford's campus concludes Sept. 17 at Maine.
The Cardinal has three games in a row in the Bay Area from Sept. 22-Oct. 1, starting with conference a contest at home against UC Davis (Sept. 22) and in Berkeley at rival California (Sept. 29). The Golden Bears wrap up Stanford's non-conference slate on Sunday, Oct. 1 on the Varsity Turf. Both matches against California will air on Pac-12 Networks.
The regular season finishes with East Coast trips to Vermont (Oct. 6), UAlbany (Oct. 8), Bryant (Oct. 27) and UMass Lowell (Oct. 29). The America East Tournament will be held Nov. 2-5 on the campus of the highest seed.
Stanford saw one of the most improved teams in the country in 2022, with the Cardinal winning 10 games and reaching the championship game of the America East Tournament.
