DOMS NAMED ALL-AMERICAN
- Senior Maya Doms was named a United Soccer Coaches All-America second team selection.
- Doms is one of 46 players to earn All-America honors, including one of 11 to record multiple All-America nods after earning a spot on the third team following her junior campaign in 2021.
- The native of Davis, Calif. earned All-Pac-12 first team honors this year while appearing in 18 matches and starting 15. Doms, listed on the MAC Hermann Trophy watch list prior to this year, scored four goals and added five assists to total 13 points.
NATIONAL-BEST FIVE NAMED ALL-REGION
- Stanford placed a national-best four players on the 2022 United Soccer Coaches All-Pacific Region first team, and added one more on the third team, following its 2022 Pac-12 Championship season.
- In addition to being the only program in the nation with four first-team selections, Stanford's five total honorees are tied for the most nationally.
- Seniors Maya Doms and Kennedy Wesley joined freshmen Elise Evans and Jasmine Aikey on the first team, while junior goalkeeper Ryan Campbell was named to the third team.
- Evans and Aikey are the only two freshmen in the nation to earn spots on a first team.
- For Doms, the selection is her second in as many years after landing on the first team in 2021. The native of Davis, Calif. earned All-Pac-12 first team honors this year while appearing in 18 matches and starting 15. - Wesley was a second team All-Pac-12 selection after starting all 22 matches at center back. - Campbell was a three-time Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week selection while earning a spot on the All-Pac-12 third team. The United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week on November 2, she started 21 of Stanford's 22 matches and allowed just 11 goals (0.55 per game) while making 56 saves and recording a conference-best eight solo shutouts. In addition to those clean sheets, Campbell combined on four more for the Cardinal. She finished the season ranked second in the Pac-12 in goals against average and save percentage (.836).
- Doms, Wesley and Campbell had all previously been named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District first team.
- Aikey was named to the All-Pac-12 second team after scoring a team-best 10 goals with three assists for 23 points. Aikey appeared in all 22 matches for the Cardinal – including starting 16 in her inaugural campaign. The native of Palo Alto, Calif. contributed a hat trick and a four-goal match as a freshman – scoring four times in the NCAA first-round victory over San Jose State on November 11. She would add one more goal against BYU on November 17 to finish the postseason run with five.
- The 2022 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, Evans landed on the All-Pac-12 first team and was twice named Pac-12 Defender of the Week. Evans started 19 matches for the Cardinal and scored three goals – all game-winners. Evans' goal against No. 1 UCLA proved all the Cardinal would need to knock off the Bruins on October 14. A staple in the center of the Cardinal back line, Evans helped Stanford to 12 shutouts on the year.
NATIONAL FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
- Freshman Elise Evans was named National Freshman of the Year according to TopDrawerSoccer, highlighting Stanford's postseason awards selections from the publication.
- The National Freshman of the Year selection is the first for Stanford since Catarina Macario was lauded in 2017.
- The 2022 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, Evans had previously been named All-Region first team according to United Soccer Coaches. The native of Redwood City, Calif. also earned a spot on the All-Pac-12 first team and was twice named Pac-12 Defender of the Week. Evans started 19 matches for the Cardinal and scored three goals – all game-winners. Evans' goal against No. 1 UCLA proved all the Cardinal would need to knock off the national champions on October 14. A staple in the center of the Cardinal back line, Evans helped Stanford limit opponents to just 0.55 goals and 8.60 shots per game while recording 12 shutouts.
- In addition to the Freshman of the Year honor, Evans landed on the Freshman Best XI first team as a defender. Fellow freshman Lumi Kostmayer also earned a spot on the Freshman Best XI, placing on the second team.
- Kostmayer paced Stanford with 10 goals and added three assists to finish with a team-best 23 points. The native of Southbury, Conn. played in 22 matches, including starting 12, and managed a pair of multi-goal games – highlighted by a hat trick vs. San Diego on September 15. Her 10 goals were tied for the most in the Pac-12 among freshmen, and were the fourth-most in the nation by a first-year player.
- Rounding out the postseason selections, senior midfielder Maya Doms, a United Soccer Coaches All-America second team selection, earned her first career nod to the Best XI second team. The native of Davis, Calif. earned All-Region and All-Pac-12 first team honors this year while appearing in 18 matches and starting 15. Doms, listed on the MAC Hermann Trophy watch list prior to this year, scored four goals and added five assists to total 13 points.
ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA
- Graduate student Abby Greubel was named to the 2022 College Sports Communicators Academic All-America second team.
- Greubel, who will graduate from Stanford with a degree in science, technology and society and a master's in sustainability science and practice, carries a 3.85 undergraduate GPA and a 4.00 mark in graduate school.
- Nineteen of the 34 members of the Academic All-America® Division I women's soccer teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 13 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.98.
- Greubel appeared in 22 matches this season, starting 19, while scoring five goals and adding two assists for 12 points. The native of Santa Ana, Calif. contributed a game-winner against Colorado on October 30.
- Over 81 career matches played for the Cardinal, Greubel scored 17 goals and added 13 assists to finish with 47 points. She helped guide Stanford to the 2019 national championship and three Pac-12 titles in 2018, 2019 and 2022.
- With Greubel's selection, the Cardinal has now had at least one Academic All-American according to College Sports Communicators (previously CoSIDA) in every season since 2016.
SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
- Stanford midfielder Sierra Enge was named 2022 Pac-12 Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
- The award, which is presented in each of the 24 sports the Pac-12 sponsors, was established to honor collegiate student-athletes that are standouts both academically and in their sports discipline.
- Enge is the ninth Stanford women's soccer player to garner the award, including the second in as many seasons after Naomi Girma was lauded last year.
- Enge, a midfielder from Cardiff, Calif., graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology & Society and is working towards a Master's in Communication. With an undergrad GPA of 3.88 and a graduate GPA of 4.06, Enge has excelled in the classroom in her five years, earning her two Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll honors (2020-21; 2021) and two CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team honors (2021; 2022).
- On the pitch, the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second Team (2020-21), All-Pac-12 Third Team (2021), and United Soccer Coaches All-Region Third Team (2021) member helped lead the Cardinal to three Pac-12 Championships (2018; 2019; 2022), two College Cup appearances (2018; 2019) and one NCAA Championship (2019).
- In the 2022 season, Enge scored one goal, a game-winner on the road against DePaul, and tallied six assists, tying her for the most on the squad. Her eight points on the season are a career best.
- To be eligible for the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, student-athletes must be a senior (in athletics eligibility), on track to receive a degree, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, participate in at least 50 percent of the scheduled contests in the sport and have a minimum one year in residence at the institution. Each Pac-12 institution may nominate one individual per sport, and the winners are selected by a committee of Pac-12 staff members at the conclusion of each sport's regular season. The athletics accomplishments of the nominees are a consideration in voting for the award.
- A Scholar-Athlete of the Year is named in each of the Pac-12's 24 sponsored sports: baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, beach volleyball, men's cross country, women's cross country, football, men's golf, women's golf, women's gymnastics, women's lacrosse, men's rowing, women's rowing, men's soccer, women's soccer, softball, men's swimming & diving, women's swimming & diving, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's track & field, women's track & field, women's volleyball, and wrestling. The award was first established during the 2008-09 academic year.
ALL-CONFERENCE HAUL
- Freshman Elise Evans was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, highlighting a group of seven Cardinal players who landed on All-Pac-12 teams
- In addition to being named the Pac-12's top freshman, Evans earned a spot on the all-conference first team alongside senior midfielder Maya Doms ... Doms, a first-team selection for the second consecutive year, has earned All-Pac-12 honors in all four seasons on The Farm after placing on the third team as a freshman and the second team as a sophomore
- A trio of Cardinal were named to the second team, with freshmen Jasmine Aikey and Lumi Kostmayer earning nods alongside senior defender Kennedy Wesley ... for Wesley, the selection is the second of her career after earning third-team honors a year ago
- Landing spots on the third team were junior goalkeeper Ryan Campbell and freshman Allie Montoya
- Making an immediate impact on The Farm, Evans, Aikey, Kostmayer and Montoya were all named to the all-freshman team

PAC-12 CHAMPIONS
- Stanford, picked to win the Pac-12 in the annual preseason coaches poll, played to a 1-1 draw at California on November 4 to earn sole possession of the Pac-12 championship and punch a ticket to the NCAA Tournament
- The Pac-12 title is the 15th in program history, including the first since 2019 ... the championship is also the 10th in 20 seasons under Knowles Family Director of Women's Soccer Paul Ratcliffe
- While the draw with California clinched sole possession of the conference crown, Stanford played the second half of the match with at least a share of the title in hand after USC defeated UCLA 2-0 in Los Angeles earlier in the day
CARDINAL IN THE NWSL DRAFT
- Sierra Enge was selected with the 13th overall pick by San Diego Wave FC during the 2023 NWSL Draft
- With Enge's selection, Stanford has now seen 20 total players drafted into the league since its inception in 2013, and has had at least one player drafted in each of the NWSL drafts
- Enge joined former Stanford teammates Naomi Girma and Belle Briede in San Diego. Girma was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 draft before embarking on a rookie season in which she earned NWSL Rookie and Defender of the Year honors
STANFORD EARNS ETHICS & SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD
- United Soccer Coaches announced the 2022 College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award recipients, with Stanford earning bronze honors
- In all, 117 men's and women's teams received either the Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze version of the College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award, which recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the season based on the number of cards accumulated divided by the number of games played
- Eleven teams were recipients of the Gold Award, which is given to teams with a percentage of cards ranging from 1-10%.
- A total of 50 teams claimed the Silver Award, which is given to teams that accumulate a percentage of cards ranging from 11-30%, while the Bronze Award went to 55 teams, which is presented to teams that accumulate a percentage of cards ranging from 31-50%.
- Stanford was issued 11 yellow cards in 22 games played
SPREADING THE WEALTH
- Thirteen different Cardinal players scored a goal this year, including 10 from freshmen Jasmine Aikey and Lumi Kostmayer, seven from Samantha Williams, five from Abby Greubel and Allie Montoya, four from Maya Doms and Amy Sayer, and three from Elise Evans, Julia Leontini and Catherine Paulson
- Logan Smith contributed two, while Katie Duong and Sierra Enge added one
- Eighteen Cardinal factored into points this year, with Enge and Williams contributing six assists to lead the team
THESE RESERVES AREN'T RESERVED
- Samantha Williams and Lumi Kostmayer each scored three goals and added an assist over the first two matches of the year despite neither starting one of the matches ... the duo accounted for all three goals against San Francisco, with Kostmayer assisting on Williams' goal before scoring a pair of her own
- Amy Sayer also managed a brace off the bench, scoring twice in a 5-1 victory over UC Santa Barbara on August 28, before Allie Montoya had a pair vs. No. 8 Penn State on September 1
- Stanford's reserves accounted for 19 of the Cardinal's 58 goals, and 16 of the 47 assists, on the year
SUPPORTING THE FIGHT AGAINST BREAST CANCER
- The Cardinal donned pink jerseys during the October 9 victory over Washington State to promote breast cancer awareness
- Those game-worn jerseys, which were once again worn on October 27 against Utah, were auctioned off with all proceeds going to the Women's Health Center at Stanford Medicine
HOME SWEET HOME
- Stanford owns a 100-5-8 record at Cagan Stadium since the start of the 2014 season
- The Cardinal has managed unbeaten home slates in five of the last nine seasons
- Stanford went 11-0 this year outscored its opponents 39-4
- Stanford had a 43-match unbeaten streak at home snapped during the 2020-21 season with a 1-0 loss to Cal on March 20 ... went 42-0-1 over the span, which began at the beginning of the 2017 season ... played to a 1-1 draw vs. then-No. 7 Santa Clara on September 16, 2018 for the only tie over the 43-match string
FORMER CARDINAL EARN TOP NWSL HONORS
- Former Cardinal claimed three of the top end-of-year awards following the conclusion of the 2022 NWSL season, with Sophia Smith earning Most Valuable Player and Naomi Girma claiming Rookie and Defender of the Year
- At 22 years old, Smith is the youngest player in NWSL history to be named the regular-season MVP, while Girma is the first NWSL player to secure two individual end-of-year awards in a rookie season
- Smith's electric season, highlighted by a career best 14 goals in 18 matches, got off to a quick start in April when the forward tallied a goal in the Thorns' regular-season opener ... from there, the Windsor, Colorado native went on to lead her team in scoring, tallying a goal in more than half of Portland's matches to set a new club record for goals in a single season ... the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NWSL Draft notched a league-high four braces, tying the NWSL single-season record for two-goal games
- Appearing in more than 1,800 minutes of play throughout the regular season, Girma's impressive first NWSL campaign helped Wave FC post a defensive effort that averaged less than a goal against per game in 22 matches ... the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft, Girma was a steady presence on the Wave FC backline, finishing the regular season with 95 clearances, 24 interceptions and 20 tackles in 20 games ... she also registered 176 recoveries and led all league defenders in possession won in the defensive half ... throughout the regular season, Girma's stellar performance earned her spots on four of the league's five Best XI of Month rosters as well as two Rookie of the Month selections
SUCCESS UNDER RATCLIFFE
- This fall marked the 20th season under the direction of The Knowles Family Director of Women's Soccer Paul Ratcliffe
- Ratcliffe is Stanford's all-time winningest soccer coach with a 356-66-35 record in his tenure on The Farm
- Ratcliffe has guided Stanford to three national championships, five NCAA finals, 10 Pac-12 titles, nine College Cup appearances, a berth in the NCAA third round in 13 of the past 17 seasons, and a spot in the NCAA Tournament in 19 of his 20 seasons
AIKEY'S HAT TRICK EARNS OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
- Freshman Jasmine Aikey claimed her first career Pac-12 Offensive Player of the week selection on October 24
- Aikey scored a hat trick to lead Stanford to a 3-0 victory at Oregon State on October 23
- The multi-goal game was the first of her career and was the second hat trick for Stanford this season (Lumi Kostmayer - September 15 vs. San Diego)
- Aikey took 15 shots on the weekend, putting nine on frame, to help guide Stanford to a pair of shutout wins
CLEAN SHEETS TO START
- Stanford opened the year with back-to-back shutouts for the second consecutive season
- The Cardinal opened the 2021 season with three consecutive shutouts for the fifth time in program history, including the first since 2014 when it did not allow a goal over the first nine matches of the year
- Stanford faced 11 shots through the first two matches this year, with Ryan Campbell saving all three that came on goal

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
- Junior goalkeeper Ryan Campbell was named Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week for the third time this season on October 31 ... Campbell was also tabbed United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week on November 2
- The national selection is just the fourth for Stanford since 2010, as Campbell joins Lindsay Taylor (9/14/11), Courtney Verloo (9/24/13) and Andi Sullivan (11/1/16) as players honored
- Campbell earned her Pac-12-best eighth shutout of the season with three saves in October 30's 2-0 blanking of Colorado

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
- Freshman Elise Evans earned her second career Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week selection on October 17
- Evans scored her second goal of the season to secure Stanford's 1-0 victory over No. 1 UCLA on October 14
- Defensively, she anchored a back line that held UCLA, the Pac-12's top scoring offense, to just four shots on goal
- Evans played all 90 minutes at center back, assisting in Stanford's seventh shutout of the year
- Evans had previously been named Defensive Player of the Week on September 5
- Evans guided Stanford to a 2-0 week that included a 2-0 shutout victory over then-No. 8 Penn State on September 1
- The native of Redwood City, Calif. scored her first collegiate goal in a 4-1 victory over Cal Poly on September 4
- Evans played 168 of a possible 180 minutes at center back, limiting Penn State and Cal Poly to just one goal on 11 shots

PRESS CLAIMS HER HALL OF FAME SPOT
- Stanford's all-time leading goalscorer, the 2010 Hermann Trophy winner, and a World Cup Champion with the United States, Christen Press added Stanford Hall of Famer to her impressive resume on September 9
- Press was one of 10 women included in Stanford's first all-female class honoring 50 years of Title IX

CARDINAL TABBED PRESEASON FAVORITE
- For the seventh time in eight seasons, Stanford was picked to win the Pac-12 by the Conference's head coaches
- The 2022 season also marks the 14th time in 25 years that the Cardinal has been selected the favorite
- Stanford, which has not received fewer than 100 points since 2010, garnered 116 points and six first-place votes
- UCLA (112 points, four first-place votes) and Washington State (100 points, two first-place votes) followed in second and third, respectively
TEAM STANFORD VS. TEAM CHINA
- Scoreless through 83 minutes of play, No. 21 Stanford received a game-winning goal from senior Maya Doms in the 84th minute to earn a 1-0 victory over the Chinese National Team in an exhibition match on August 21 in front of a capacity crowd from Cagan Stadium.
- Team China entered the match ranked No. 16 in the FIFA world rankings
- Freshman Lumi Kostmayer, who narrowly missed putting the Cardinal on the board in the 47th minute after drilling a shot from distance that hit off the crossbar, fed Doms a perfect pass through a Chinese defender that found her right foot. The native of Davis, Calif. took one touch toward goal before unleashing a shot that beat Team China goalkeeper Zhu Yu to the far post for the game-winner
- The match proved an even pairing as both squads managed 11 shots and four on frame, with China holding a possession advantage of 56% compared to Stanford's 44%
- Cardinal goalkeeper Ryan Campbell made four saves to post the shutout, while Yu finished with three. Campbell's biggest save of the night came in the 34th minute when China's Yang Lina lined up a shot from 25 yards out and fired to the upper-left 90 of the goal. Campbell leapt up and touched it over the bar to keep the Cardinal even headed into halftime
DOMS LANDS ON HERMANN TROPHY WATCH LIST
- Senior Maya Doms is one of 60 NCAA Women's Division I college soccer players named to the 2022 Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List
- The Hermann Trophy is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the nation's National Player of the Year as determined by the voting of Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches
- Including Doms, an NCAA-best nine players from the Pac-12 are included on this year's initial list - Doms, UCLA's Lauren Brzykcy and Lily Reale, Washington State's Nadia Cooper and Mykiaa Minnis, Oregon's Leah Freeman, USC's Croix Bethune, Arizona State's Nicole Douglas, and Washington's Summer Yates
- A Cardinal player has claimed three of the last five MAC Hermann trophies, with Andi Sullivan taking the award in 2017, followed by Catarina Macario becoming a back-to-back winner in 2018 and 2019 ... Kelley O'Hara became the first Stanford player to win the MAC Hermann Trophy at the conclusion of the 2009 season ... O'Hara was followed by Christen Press (2010) and Teresa Noyola (2011) to bring Stanford's total to six winners
