LOS ANGELES – Utilizing strong second and third quarters, No. 6 Stanford (4-2) cruised to a 19-8 victory over No. 14 LMU (3-2) on the road on Sunday afternoon.
The Cardinal scored seven goals in the second and third quarters to turn a 3-2 game after one period into a 17-6 game headed to the fourth.
Jackson Painter led all players with four goals for the Cardinal while adding an assist and drawing one exclusion.

Leading by just one goal after one quarter, Stanford scored the first three goals of the second to take a 6-2 lead. The Cardinal managed a second 3-0 run down the stretch of the first half, capped by a Merrill goal, that left the Cardinal on top 10-5 at the intermission.
A dominant third quarter, one that saw Stanford outscore LMU 7-1 over the eight minutes, put the game out of reach. The 10-5 halftime lead ballooned to 13-5 on a goal from Painter, and Stanford closed the period on a 4-0 run that included a goal from goalkeeper Griffen Price at the buzzer to run the tally to 17-6.
