Football Homestand Concludes with Oregon

Stanford football wraps up a three-game homestand on Saturday with a 3:30 p.m. kickoff against the No. 9 Oregon Ducks.

The Cardinal defense had one of its best performances of the season on Saturday against Arizona. It held the Wildcats defense to season-lows with 21 points and 349 total yards on offense.

Stanford found a bit more rhythm in the passing game against Arizona, finishing with 246 yards in the air, just two yards shy of Stanford’s season-high in passing yards. The Cardinal also out-gained Arizona in the air, the first time this season that has happened in favor of the Cardinal.

Freshmen helped lead the way for Stanford offensively on Saturday. Sedrick Irvin drew his first collegiate start and led the Cardinal with 66 rushing yards and his first career touchdown. Tiger Bachmeier was the team’s leading receiver with four receptions for 93 yards.

This weekend will be special on The Farm, as Andrew Luck will be inducted into the Stanford Athletics Hall of Fame. Luck will join nine others, including baseball/football student-athlete Joe Borchard, for the induction ceremony on Friday night. The entire Hall of Fame Class of 2023 will be honored at halftime of the Cardinal vs. Ducks game on Saturday.

Stanford vs. Oregon has been one of the most steady Pac-12 rivalries over the years. Both have won seven times in the last 14 meetings, and since 2007, the series is split 4-4 inside Stanford Stadium.

The Cardinal is looking to snap a streak of six straight Pac-12 losses dating back to last season. Stanford has also lost eight consecutive games against ranked teams. The most recent win for Stanford over a team inside the AP Top-25 came in the most recent matchup against the Ducks at Stanford Stadium, when the Cardinal upset a third-ranked Oregon squad 31-24 in overtime.
