Stroke Play Concludes at Stephens Cup

DALLAS – Stroke play has concluded at the Stephens Cup, as Stanford finished the tournament with a 29-under 835 to finish sixth in the tournament. Cardinal posted their second best round of the event as a team on Tuesday with a 12-under 276, which was just three strokes shy of their opening round effort.

Jake Beber-Frankel highlighted the Cardinal lineup on day two by posting a 5-under 67 for his best round of the tournament. The senior tallied seven birdies and two bogeys on the day, finishing stroke play as Stanford's highest placer with a share of 17th place.

Ethan Gao and Kush Arora would both tie for 19th place on the tournament, as both freshman earned the highest finish of their young careers. Gao also scored a 5-under on the day with an eagle, five birdies and two bogeys. Arora started the round hot by cracking the top ten on the leaderboard, but would ultimately finish with a 1-over 73 in his final round.

Karl Vilips shot a 2-under 70 in round three to finish tied for 24th on the tournament, as the senior couldn't quite tally his third consecutive top-15 tournament finish. Barclay Brown rounded out the Cardinal with an even par-72 round and finished the tournament tied for 31st sitting 1-under.

Stanford finishes outside of the top four and did not qualify for tomorrow's match play portion of the event. The Cardinal will be back in action for the final event of the fall schedule at the Cypress Point Classic on Oct. 30-31.
