Stanford to PlayforHer during Intercollegiate

  • Stanford women’s golf competes at home for the first time this season with the annual Stanford Intercollegiate.
  • The three-day tournament takes place on Oct. 20-22 and is hosted at the Stanford Golf Course.
  • The Cardinal rolled through the field last season, winning the event for the fifth time and the second time in a row. Rose Zhang was the individual winner of the tournament as she helped Stanford finish 15-under, cruising its way to a 10-stroke victory.
  • Stanford most recently finished third at the 2023 Stephens Cup, beating South Carolina in match play on the final day to secure the third -place finish. Paula Martin Sampedro was the team’s best performer, finishing in a tie for fourth place in her best collegiate finish.
  • Stanford’s five wins at the Intercollegiate are tied with UCLA for the most in the history of the event.
  • The following teams are making their way to Stanford for this year’s tournament: Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, California, Colorado, Denver, Georgia, Iowa State, Michigan, Northwestern, Oregon, Oregon State, San Jose State, Stanford, Texas, UCLA, USC, Virginia, and Washington.
  • The 2023 Stanford Intercollegiate marks the second year of golfing by the mantra “PlayforHer” as part of an initiative to help raise funds in support of breast cancer research.
  • This year’s tournament is being dedicated to the head coach of California, Nancy McDaniel.
  • Fans and supporters can CLICK HERE to donate to a fundraiser that will be directed towards Dr. Hope Rugo at UCSF, who serves as McDaniel’s oncologist. Those who wish to donate can either sponsor each birdie made by the Cardinal or make a flat donation.
  • Each donation is tax-deductible.
