Scoresheet Opens in a new window

STANFORD, Calif. – Ethan Parrish scored a career-high six goals to lead No. 3 Stanford to a 17-12 victory over No. 7 UC Davis at Avery Aquatic Center on Sunday afternoon. Parrish, along with fellow seniors Andrew Churukian, Soren Jensen, Nolan Krutonog, Jackson Painter and Riley Pittman, were honored in a pregame ceremony to celebrate their careers on The Farm.

Parrish's six-goal outburst was an individual season high for the Cardinal and the best Stanford performance against a ranked opponent since Ben Hallock scored eight in a 15-8 win over No. 7 California on Nov. 9, 2019.

Parrish didn't get on the board until there was no time remaining in the first half. UC Davis goalkeeper Aaron Wilson was whistled for putting the ball under and Parrish converted from five meters to give the Cardinal a 9-6 advantage heading into intermission.

The senior from Santa Barbara would then score five of Stanford's eight second-half tallies, including four in the third quarter, en route to the five-goal win. He rattled the cage on another penalty just over a minute into the third quarter and got his hat trick and 5:41 in front of goal on a redirect off a feed from Pittman.

Gavin West broke up Parrish's mini-run, scoring at the far post at 4:58, but Parrish kept it going with a skip to the near side to make it 13-7 Cardinal with 3:01 to go in the third. His fifth came with 39 seconds left in the quarter on a rocket to the top right corner of the cage to give Stanford a 15-9 lead heading into the final eight minutes.

Parrish's final strike came on another penalty with 4:31 remaining after Alex Gheorghe earned the five-meter attempt working on UC Davis' Holden Neach.

In all, Stanford's senior class was responsible for 10 of the team's 17 goals on Sunday – six from Parrish, two from Riley Pittman one each from Andrew Churukian and Soren Jensen.

Griffen Price made five saves in the cage for the Cardinal and Nolan Krutonog came on for a stint across the third and fourth quarters, making one stop.

Stanford has won three straight and five of six and closes out its home schedule when it hosts No. 15 Pacific on Thursday at 7 p.m.
