BALTIMORE - Stanford competed in two regattas this weekend, taking seventh place in the Open ACC Finals, hosted by Saint Mary's College of Maryland and third place in the Yale Women's. The Cardinal has finished in the top-three in eight regattas this season, only missing out on a podium spot on three occasions.

"We left a lot of points on the water last weekend and we have to clean that up," said head sailing coach Chris Klevan. "However, I'm very happy about where we are as a team. I'm looking forward to the remainder of the fall and the spring season."

In the Open ACC Finals, Stanford faced challenging competition including Harvard, Yale, Brown, and others in the 18 team field. The Cardinal had multiple strong races in the event, earning race wins in three B division and one A division races.

Stanford ended the competition in a point-tie with Yale at 237 for sixth place, but lost the head-to-head tie breaker.

In the A division, the Cardinal came out 11th overall. Michelle Lahrkamp skippered the A boat, with crewing help from Alexis Young, Luke Woodworth, and Alice Schmid.

Stanford was fifth overall in the B division with 100 points. An all-freshman took the helm of the B boat as Thomas Sitzmann, Schmid, Reade Decker, Young, and Woodworth led the team.

Meanwhile in Connecticut, Stanford earned bronze in the Yale Women's. Like in the Open ACC Finals, Stanford ended the event in a point-tie, this time with Boston College for second place and 150 points.

Boston College took the higher spot due to a head-to-head victory.

Sophie Fisher and Shay Wood led the way for Stanford in the A division. The pair claimed sixth-place with 79 points.

In the B division, Ellie Harned and Gwendolyn Donahue sailed to third overall and 71 points. Stanford finished the day with eight top-three race finishes across the 24 races in both A and B divisions.

Stanford returns to action next weekend as it hosts the Top-9 Invite and the PCCSC Fall Women's Championships.
