Fall Season Closes at ITA Nationals

- The fall season concludes in San Diego from Nov. 1-5 at the ITA Fall National Championships, held at Barnes Tennis Center. The event will be broadcast by Cracked Racquets, while individual court streams will also be available.
- Samir Banerjee qualified to participate with his championship appearance at the ITA Northwest Super Regionals last week.
- The Cardinal is looking for a second championship in a row, as Nishesh Basavareddy won the title a year ago. In the event's history, beginning in 1978, only Virginia in 2011 and 2012 repeated with different championship winners. Stanford has had a finalist in each of the last two seasons, as Arthur Fery rached the title bout in 2021.
- Stanford has three singles players ranked in the preseason. Nishesh Basavareddy opens the campaign at No. 6 and is joined in the top-30 by Max Basing (No. 20) and Samir Banerjee (No. 29). Additionally the doubles team of Banerjee and Basavareddy is slotted at No. 36 while Kyle Kang is the No. 1 ranked newcomer in the country. Arthur Fery, a two-time All-American and former No. 1 ranked player in the ITA, will take the fall off to compete in professional events.
- Fery and Basavareddy have seen tremendous success on the ATP Challenger Tour, with both players reaching their first tournament championship match in October. Fery jumped into the top 300 in the world rankings at No. 280, while Basavareddy rose 616 spots to No. 498.
- Stanford men's tennis wrapped up another strong season under head coach Paul Goldstein a year ago, winning 16 dual matches and advancing to the NCAA Super Regionals for the third year in a row. Arthur Fery and Nishesh Basavareddy gave the Cardinal multiple All-Americans for the first time since 2015.
- Stanford was heavily represented in the Pac-12's end-of-season awards, as Arthur Fery was named the Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year and Samir Banerjee was chosen as the Pac-12 Freshman/Newcomer of the Year. Fery and Banerjee were joined by Max Basing on the first team, while Nishesh Basavareddy was added to the second team.
- Paul Goldstein is in his 10th season as the Taube Family Director of Men's Tennis. Goldstein’s teams have posted a 147-66 record with a national ranking and a berth in the NCAA Championships in each of his seasons at the helm.
