Brink on Wade Watch

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford senior Cameron Brink is one of 16 players on the "Wade Watch" list of candidates for the 2024 Wade Trophy, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced Thursday.

Now in its 47th year, The Wade Trophy is named in honor of the late, legendary Delta State University coach, Lily Margaret Wade, who won three consecutive national championships with the Lady Statesmen during her six seasons as head coach. First awarded in 1978 by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD), now known as SHAPE America, the The Wade Trophy has been presented to the WBCA NCAA Division I National Player of the Year since 2001.

Brink is also on the watch list for the Lisa Leslie Award, which recognizes the nation's best center, and is a preseason Associated Press All-American. Stanford has had two players take home The Wade Trophy, Jennifer Azzi in 1990 and Candice Wiggins in 2008.

The two-time reigning Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, Brink is coming off a junior season in which she finished second nationally with a school-record 118 blocks and was third in the country in blocks per game (3.47). The 2023 WBCA Defensive Player of the Year was also one of just two players to average at least 15.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game last season and recorded the program's first triple-double with blocks when she had 16 points, 11 rebounds and 10 rejections in a win over Oregon on Jan. 29.

The nation's leading active shot blocker with 297 in her career, Brink will enter her senior season looking to become the 17th Division I player with 400 career rejections. Oregon State's Ruth Hamblin (2013-16) owns the Pac-12 record with 425 career blocks.

Brink and the Cardinal begin their regular season at home on Wednesday, Nov. 8 against Hawai'i (7 p.m.). Season tickets, mini plans, group tickets, and single game seats are now on sale by visiting tickets.gostanford.com or calling 800-STANFORD.
