Singlehanded Championship in the Books

ICSA Singlehanded Championship Results Opens in a new window

NEW ORLEANS - The Cardinal concluded its fall national championship slate at the ICSA Singlehanded Championship this weekend, with Jack Baldwin taking 17th in a challenging field. The sophomore earned the bid to the national level after topping the PCCSC field earlier this fall.

"I know Jack is disappointed about the regatta," explained head sailing coach Chris Klevan. "It was not nearly the result he was looking for. We watched Jack battle throughout the weekend despite unfavorable conditions and lackluster results."

Baldwin found variable conditions on the water over the weekend as the wind changed directions on multiple occasions The sophomore worked hard across the two days of competition, rising as high as seventh in two individual races.

"It is easy to work hard when the results are coming - we, as a team, have been fortunate in that way." added Klevan. "To fight throughout a tough weekend in New Orleans, without the help of a trophy to show for it, is admirable. I know the team is proud of Jack effort and his selfless dedication to our team."

Baldwin finished the weekend with 192 points after 14 races over the two days.

Next weekend, the Cardinal returns to action for the final time this fall in the PCCSC Fall Open Championships.
