Notre Dame Comes to Stanford Stadium for 2023 Season Finale

The 2023 season concludes for Stanford as the Cardinal hosts No. 17 Notre Dame inside Stanford Stadium. The game is televised on Pac-12 Network and kicks off at 4 pm.

Stanford dropped the 126th Big Game last week against California 27-15. The game was played in front of a sellout crowd at Stanford Stadium, the first home sellout for the Cardinal since the 2017 Big Game.

With no remaining conference games, Stanford concludes its final season in the Pac-12 with a conference record of 2-7.

Elic Ayomanor is attempting to become the first Cardinal receiver since J.J. Arcega-Whiteside in 2018 to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards in a season. Ayomanor needs 45 receiving yards to do so, a mark he has hit in five of his last six games.

Downfield passing has become more common for the Stanford offense this season, and it has led to some quick-strike scores. Of the 11 passing touchdowns for Ashton Daniels this year, five of them have been from 40+ yards, including a 41-yard touchdown to Tiger Bachmeier against California.

Prior to the Cardinal's final road game of the season, kicker Joshua Karty was named a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, given to the best kicker in the country. Karty was a finalist in 2022 and was named a First Team All-American last year. He ranks sixth in Stanford history in field goals made at 48 and has the best field goal percentage in program history (85.7%).

Stanford is playing for another trophy this week: The Legends Trophy. The Cardinal won this coveted trophy last season after winning at Notre Dame 16-14. Stanford has had the upper hand in recent seasons, winning eight of the last 13 matchups against Notre Dame.

Prior to kickoff on Saturday, Stanford will honor its senior class with a Senior Day celebration. The Cardinal have 26 seniors on this year's team (fourth-year and fifth-year seniors combined) who will have family members on hand to participate in the festivities.
