Aikey, Campbell Headline All-Conference Selections

Pac-12 Release Opens in a new window

STANFORD, Calif. – Sophomore Jasmine Aikey was named Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year and senior Ryan Campbell earned Goalkeeper of the Year, highlighting a group of 10 Cardinal on All-Pac-12 teams.

Aikey is the fourth Midfielder of the Year in Stanford history, including the first since Catarina Macario in 2019. Campbell joins Jane Campbell as the only Stanford players in program history to earn Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Year, with the latter earning the award for the 2015 season.

In addition to the yearly awards, Aikey and Campbell each landed on the All-Pac-12 first team, joined by fifth-year players Maya Doms and Kennedy Wesley.

Sophomore Elise Evans and redshirt sophomore Andrea Kitahata earned spots on the second team, while freshmen Mia Bhuta and Shae Harvey landed on the third team as well as the All-Freshman team. The first-year duo was joined by fellow freshmen Erica Grilione and Joelle Jung on the list of standout freshmen.

The eight players to land on either the first, second or third teams are the most for the Cardinal since Stanford placed 10 on the lists in 2018.

Aikey, who was named to the All-Pac-12 second team as a freshman, has scored in eight of 19 matches this year and has contributed a point in 12 of the 19. The team-leader in goals with 10, Aikey is averaging 1.37 points per game to rank third in the Pac-12, while her 3.89 shots per game rank fifth in the Pac-12 and 22nd nationally. The native of Palo Alto, Calif. ranks second in the Pac-12 in points (26) and goals, third in goals per game (.53) and fourth in assists (6). Aikey most recently recorded a hat trick in a 4-0 victory over California on November 3 to conclude the regular season – the third multi-goal game of her career. For her efforts, Aikey was named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week.

Campbell, a third-team all-conference selection as a junior a year ago, leads the Pac-12 and ranks sixth in the nation in goals against average (.454), is first in the conference and 19th nationally in save percentage (.865), and third in the Pac-12 in shutouts (7). Campbell is the only Pac-12 goalkeeper to earn at least three Pac-12 weekly honors (4) this year, and garnered the award in three consecutive weeks (September 18, September 25, October 2) to become only the second goalkeeper in Pac-12 history to win three straight – joining Colorado's Jalen Tompkins from 2016.

Doms, a first-team selection for the third consecutive year, has earned All-Pac-12 honors in all five seasons on The Farm after placing on the third team as a freshman and the second team as a sophomore. The native of Davis, Calif. has scored in eight of 19 matches this year and has managed a team-best 76 shots to the tune of 4.00 per game to rank third in the Pac-12 and 16th in the nation. Doms' 1.79 shots on goal per game are third in the Pac-12 and 33rd nationally, while her eight goals rank second on the team and seventh in the conference. Doms, who has also contributed four assists to total 20 points, scored the equalizer at No. 2 UCLA on October 29, spoiling UCLA's 12-game win streak and earning Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week.

The first-team selection is the third all-conference honor of Wesley's career after placing on the second team last year and the third team in 2021. The native of Rossmoor, Calif. has started all 19 matches for the Cardinal while logging 1,627 minutes on the back line. In addition to helping the Cardinal limit opponents to a 0.47 goals against average, Wesley has also chipped in three goals and five assists to total 11 points. Wesley was twice named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week this season, earning the accolade in two of the first three weeks of the year.

Evans, the 2022 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, claims her second all-conference honor after earning a spot on the first team a season ago. Having started all 19 matches for the Cardinal at center back, Evans has played 1,646 minutes and helped Stanford post a 0.47 goals against average while limiting opponents to just 9.20 total shots per game. On the attack, Evans has contributed one goal this season.

Kitahata, who was an All-Pac-12 second team selection as a freshman in 2021, has scored in six of the 19 matches this year, and her four game-winners lead the Pac-12 and rank 31st nationally. Kitahata is averaging 0.37 assists per game to rank third in the Pac-12 and has contributed a team-high seven assists to rank first in the conference. The native of Hillsborough, Calif. ranks eighth in the Pac-12 in points (19) and eighth in shots per game (3.05), while her six goals are third on the Cardinal roster.

Bhuta has appeared in all 19 matches for the Cardinal, including starting 18, as a freshman. Playing in the midfield and on the back line, the native of Pittsburgh, Pa. has posted one goal while logging 1,594 minutes. Her lone tally proved to be the game-winner in a 1-0 victory at Washington State on September 22.

Harvey has started all 19 matches so far in her Stanford career, logging 1,419 minutes in the midfield. The native of Hermosa Beach, Calif. has amassed a goal and an assist for three points. Both the goal and the assist came in her second career match - a 2-1 win at UC Irvine on August 19.

Grilione has appeared in 14 matches as a freshman, including starting seven, while contributing 735 minutes. Proving effective on the attack, the native of Roseville, Calif. has compiled three goals and three assists on just 24 total shots.

Jung has made six starts and 17 total appearances for the Cardinal in her inaugural campaign, logging 738 minutes. One of the more dangerous players on the ball, the native San Jose, Calif. has scored four goals – all game-winners – while assisting on three more for 11 total points. The four game-winners lead the Pac-12 and rank 31st nationally.

The Cardinal, a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament, is currently preparing to host Pepperdine on Friday at 6 p.m. in a first-round match to be played at Cagan Stadium.
