STANFORD, Calif. - Fifth year Dawson Sihavong, who won a pair of medals at the Southeast Asian Games in May, has been recognized in 'A Year of Achievements by Lao Athletes'.
One of the top Lao athletes at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, Sihavong took home a silver medal at 70 kg in Freestyle a day after capturing a bronze medal at 67 kg in Greco-Roman.
Sihavong also wrestled at the Asian Games in October in Lin'an, Hangzhou, China. He went four rounds at 74 kg in Freestyle, and placed eighth overall - the top 7 were all ranked in the top 25 in the world. Tat Du Can of Vietnam, who won the SEA Games, was pinned by Sihavong in Round 1 of Repechage. Sihavong is now ranked No. 51 in the world after his performance in China.
Sihavong, who is in in his final season with the Cardinal, is 18-24 in his Stanford career.
