STANFORD, Calif. – No. 8 Florida spoiled No. 2 Stanford's home opener, defeating the Cardinal 25-19, 29-27, 25-23, Tuesday, at Maples Pavilion.
Stanford (2-1) out hit Florida (3-0) .333 to .324. The Gators out dug the Cardinal, 42-35, and edged Stanford in blocks 4.0 to 3.0.
The last time Stanford was swept at home was its 2022 season opener against then No. 1 Texas.
Opposite Kendall Kipp led the team with 15 kills on a .306 attack percentage, three digs and two blocks. Freshman Jordyn Harvey added nine on .444 hitting off the bench.
Setter Kami Miner turned in her second double-double of the season with 33 assists and 10 digs. The junior also notched two kills on two attempts and an ace. Libero Elena Oglivie had a team-high 11 digs, five assists and an ace.
Middle blocker Sami Francis totaled eight kills on 15 swings with just one miscue to hit .467. Sophomore Elia Rubin chipped in with seven kills on .333 hitting, five digs and three assists, while McKenna Vicini had three kills and two blocks.
Freshman Koko Kirsch saw the court for the first time in her Cardinal career, entering the match as a serving sub in the third set.
Florida was led by freshman opposite Kennedy Martin, the reigning AVCA Player of the Week, had a match-high 16 kills on a .394 to go with four blocks, four digs and two aces. Sophomore setter Alexis Stucky had a double-double with 34 assists and 12 digs, and four kills.
Stanford hits the road this weekend, traveling to No. 7 Texas on Sunday. The match will be televised on ESPN2 at 9:30 a.m. PT.
