Conference Opener at No. 19 Arizona

  • Stanford women's gymnastics concludes its three-meet road swing in Arizona Saturday, Jan. 27, taking on its first taste of conference dual-meet action in McKale Center. 
  • The Cardinal's Pac-12 opener is scheduled for a 1 p.m. PT start and will be streamed on Arizona Live Stream.
  • Saturday's Pac-12 dual meet marks the start of the final season of Pac-12 Gymnastics for the Cardinal. In Rodgers Family Director of Gymnastics Tabitha Yim's tenure, Stanford has gone 1-4 in conference dual meet openers:
    • 2023- W, 196.225-196.050 at Arizona State
    • 2022- L, 196.000-197.675 at Utah
    • 2021- N/A, delayed due to COVID-19 Pandemic
    • 2020- L, 195.550-197.325 at California
    • 2019- L, 196.125-196.575 at California
    • 2018- L, 195.650-196.250 vs. Arizona State
  • Stanford women's gymnastics had a strong performance in Denver Sunday, finishing fourth at the Denver Quad Meet with a team score of 196.100. No. 1 Oklahoma won the competition with a team score of 198.325, followed by No. 10 Denver at 197.175 and No. 11 UCLA at 196.550. 
  • At Denver, junior Brenna Neault led the Cardinal in the all-around competition, earning a season-best total of 39.300. Sophomore Claire Dean matched her career-best effort with a 39.225 with fifth-year Chloe Widner finishing shortly behind her with a 39.200. 
  • Stanford continued its 2024 success on floor in Denver, tabbing a 49.225 team score. Since the hiring of assistant coach Hallie Mossett, the team has scored above the 49.000+ on floor in all but one meet. 
  • Neault led the way on beam for the Cardinal in Denver. The junior has recorded 22 beam routines scoring 9.800-or-better in her collegiate career (out of 28 possible appearances). 
  • Junior Anapaula Gutierrez made her season debut in Denver, aiding Stanford's vault and bars rotations that struggled in the team's season-opener in Michigan. Her scores of 9.850 on each event aided in season-best team scores of 49.150 and 49.250 on vault and bars, respectively. 
  • Senior Amanda Zeng has stepped up in her senior season, becoming a constant presence in the team's vault and floor lineups. In both meets this season, Zeng has matched her career-best on vault (9.800) while she also matched her career-best effort on floor (9.850) in the team's season opener.
  • Sophomore Taralyn Nguyen has impressed in the first two meets of her sophomore campaign. She opened the year with a career-best floor routine (9.900) and followed with a career-best vault (9.900) at Denver. 
  • In her final season donning the Cardinal leo, fifth-year Chloe Widner has continued to be a cog in all of Stanford's lineups. She has scored at least one 9.900-or-better in every meet dating back to Stanford's last meeting with Arizona (Feb. 4, 2023) for a total of 18 efforts above the 9.900 threshold.
