STANFORD, Calif. – Cameron Brink and Kiki Iriafen are among the 30 players named to the 2024 Naismith Women's College Player of the Year Midseason Team, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Tuesday.
Brink remains under consideration for this season's Naismith Trophy after appearing on the 50-person preseason watch list. Arguably the country's most improved player, Iriafen did not appear on early list of 50 names, but has moved into the conversation following a superb start to her junior campaign.
The only player in the country in the country averaging 18+ points, 11+ rebounds and 3+ blocks per game this season, Brink is first nationally in blocks per game (3.58), sixth in rebounds per game (11.8), 10th in double-doubles (14), and first player efficiency rating (50.7). In her last six games, she's averaging 21.0 points, 15.0 rebounds and 4.7 blocks per game.
The nation's leading active shot blocker with 383 in her career, she will soon become the 17th Division I player with 400 career rejections. Brink Is currently sixth in the NCAA this season in free throw percentage at 91.7 percent and had a streak of 73 consecutive free throws end earlier this season, which is the second-longest in DI history.
Iriafen is one of 10 players in the country averaging 18+ and 10+ rebounds per game this season, is averaging 20.9 points and 12.4 rebounds in the last 10 games and in six games against the AP Top 25 this season is averaging 21.3 points and 13.2 rebounds. She is the only player in the country averaging 20+ points and 10+ rebounds against the AP Top 25.
Iriafen has taken a massive leap as a junior and is among the country's most improved players. After averaging 6.7 points and 3.8 rebounds as a sophomore, she's putting up 18.3 points (+11.6) and 10.7 rebounds (+6.9) per game this season. Currently, she has the fourth-best year-over-year improvement in the country in scoring average and is first in rebounding average.
Brink, Iriafen and the No. 3 Cardinal are home this weekend when they host California on Friday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m.
