STANFORD, Calif. - Yara Elian was named MPSF Swimmer of the Year and Megan Abarca was named MPSF Coach of the Year following Stanford's third-straight MPSF title over the weekend. It marks Abarca's third-straight Coach of the Year award and Elian's second yearly award after winning Newcomer of the Year in 2023.
Elian defended her MPSF Championship in the duet (192.8708) and trio (190.9667) routines to help the Cardinal to a third-straight overall conference crown. She also placed second in the tech 'A' (79.4937) and team (254.3021) competitions for a total of 69 individual championship points, nine points ahead of the runner-up, giving her the largest margin for the individual high-point MPSF title in the three-year history of the event (ahead of her own eight-point victory last year).
Stanford has won all three major MPSF Artistic Swimmer awards since the MPSF sponsored artistic swimming beginning in 2022 (Yara Elian-2024, Lindi Schroeder-2023, Nicole Goot-2022).
Stanford sixth-year head coach Megan Abarca led the Cardinal to a third-straight MPSF Championship, guiding victories in the duet, trio, and technical 'A' events, in addition to second-place finishes in the solo and team competitions for a total score of 95 points. Stanford placed eight artistic swimmers on the All-MPSF teams this year, including five on the first team, matching last year's all-time conference-bests.
The All-MPSF selections include first team honors for Elian, Ivy Davis, Lindi Schroeder, Miko Begossi, and Elisa Brunel. Nicole Goot, Emmanuella Tchakmakjian, and Ella Rau each earned a spot on the second team.
