STANFORD, Calif. – Twelve current and former Stanford gymnasts are set to compete in an action-packed weekend of gymnastics, as the Cardinal program will be represented at both the 2024 FIG World Cup in Cottbus, Germany and the 2024 Winter Cup in Louisville, Kentucky.
It will be an all-Stanford contingent heading overseas to represent the stars and stripes this weekend, as Asher Hong, Colt Walker, and Khoi Young will represent the United States at the World Cup from Feb. 22–25.
Action kicks off Thursday at 5 a.m. PT with qualification rounds for floor exercise, pommel horse, and still rings, followed by vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar on Friday at the same time. Final sessions will take place on Saturday and Sunday at 4:45 a.m. PT, with all Cottbus World Cup competition being streamed live on FIG's pay-per-view platform, figtv.sport.
Stateside, the group of Jeremy Bischoff, Taylor Burkhart, J.R. Chou, Ian Gunther, Riley Loos, Brody Malone, Brandon Nguyen, Curran Phillips, and Blake Sun will compete on Feb. 23–25 for their chance to earn a spot on the U.S. National Team.
Qualification rounds will begin on Friday at 10:30 a.m. PT, with all-around and event finals wrapping up on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. PT, after which National Team placements and international competition assignments will be determined.
National Team positions earned at the Winter Cup will be held through the Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships in late May. Stanford previously had nine representatives on the U.S. National Team after Hong, Walker, Young, Bischoff, Burkhart, Loos, Malone, and Brandon Briones each earned bids after the 2023 U.S. Championships in late August.
All competition coverage for this weekend's Winter Cup action will stream live on the official USA Gymnastics YouTube channel, with live scoring available on myusagym.com.
