Card Opens 2024 Home Schedule with DeMarini Invitational

The No. 11 Stanford softball team (10-4) opens the home schedule this weekend, hosting the DeMarini Invitational. The Card will look to keep its five-game winning streak going against Boise State, and No. 14 Georgia.

Finally back on The Farm
After opening the season with 14-straight road games, the Card is finally back home this weekend.
• Last season, the Cardinal went 22-3 at Boyd & Jill Smith Family Stadium.
• In Stanford's last home games, the team went 3-0 at the NCAA Regionals. In two games against No. 20 Florida and one game against Long Beach State, the Card posted two shutouts and a +18 run differential.

Non-conference gauntlet
Through the Card's 14 games this season, half have come against teams ranked in theNFCA/USA Today top 25 when they played Stanford.
• The Cardinal has gone 3-4 against the top foes, including a pair of wins over the then-No. 2 team in the poll (Tennessee on Feb. 16, Texas on Feb. 24).
• In Stanford's seven games against unranked opponents this season, the team has gone 7-0 with two shutouts and a +29 run differential.

Familiar foes
The Cardinal faces Boise State and No. 13 Georgia this weekend, after seeing both teams in 2023.
• Stanford went a perfect 4-0 against the two teams, including a pair of wins at Georgia.

Kaneshiro crushing
Senior Aly Kaneshiro leads the team in homers (4), RBI (12), slugging percentage (.533) and total bases (24).
• The home run total is already more than halfway to her total from last season (7), and matches her totals from her freshman and sophomore seasons.
• Kaneshiro is the only member of the Cardinal to record 4+ RBI in a game, having done it twice.

NiJaree still doing NiJaree thing
Sophomore pitcher NiJaree Canady has had an electric start the season, with her team-leading 0.61 ERA.
• The ERA is the third-lowest in the Pac-12.
• Canady's 68 strikeouts are the second-most in the NCAA.

Because she gets on base
Through 14 games, sophomore Taryn Kern leads the Cardinal in OBP (.537), walks (17) and HBP (8).
• The walk total is tied for the most in the NCAA, and the HBP total is the second-most.
• The sophomore has reached base safely in all 14 games this season for the Card, and walked in 10-straight games. In the 10-game stretch, Kern has walked 15 times.
• Through 14 games, the sophomore has drawn multiple walks in a game five times.
• Kern has been dangerous once reaching base too, with her seven runs the third-most on the team.
• The HBP total is already the 12th-most in a single season in program history. The single-season record is 18, set by Arden Pettit in 2018.
